Archives Culture Historical Heritage
The Shanghai Pudong New Area Archives located at No. 100 Bairun Road , I was instantly attracted by this building full of Chinese cultural heritage and its clever combination of red seals and original-colored bamboo slips .
Elegance leads to a long-term career
The building’s floor plan is in an “L” shape, and the exterior facade is inspired by ancient Chinese bamboo slips and square seals, representing biography.
The top of the “bamboo slips” made of aluminum veneer is engraved with the surnames of the hundred families in small seal script, implying that the people’s history is recorded and history is created by the people. The four characters “Pudong Archives” are engraved in relief on the seal, which is square, solemn, steady and majestic. The background color of Chinese red further highlights the archival culture and historical heritage.
Modern craft culture inheritance
This is the first time that Yaret has tried to use aluminum veneer to make this complete book curtain wall. However, the design with Chinese cultural heritage deeply attracted every Yaret person who participated in the creation of the workpiece.
How to clearly combine and express the texture of “aluminum bamboo” and the small seal characters; how to make the positive characters of the “aluminum seal” more raised and full, and the traces of the cut more lifelike; after spraying, how to keep the font art presentation clear, elegant and well-organized… Countless technical problems became the topics that Yaret craftsmen thought about day and night during that period.
Yaret Crafts Cultural Heritage
After repeated attempts at programming, carving, and spraying, we were finally able to use a full-frame relief technique on a 5mm aluminum plate to vividly display the characteristics of ancient Chinese seals, create traces of weathered etching, and vividly restore the red seals on the building’s exterior curtain wall and the original bamboo slips, better reflecting the sense of age of the archives’ exterior and the unique heritage of Shanghai culture contained within.
Pudong Archives Cultural Landmarks
The project has created a multifunctional and integrated archives culture display window for citizens, enhancing their awareness and sense of gain of archives cultural services. It has become a new intelligent archives management and utilization base with a grand scale, advanced management and convenient services in southern Pudong, and a new landmark of Pudong’s urban culture.
The completion of this project has also enabled Yatai to further improve its craftsmanship and become more confident in understanding architectural design, making it possible for products to incorporate more cultural and artistic elements .
