Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center, located in the core area of Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo City on the south bank of Qiantang River in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, and Qianjiang Century City, was put into use as a whole in April 2021. It is the main venue of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. The stadium (Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium), also known as the “Big Lotus”, covers an area of 430 acres, with a building height of 59.4 meters, a total construction area of 216,000 square meters, and 80,800 fixed seats. It is the second largest stadium in China after the “Bird’s Nest”; there are six floors above ground and two floors underground. The “Big Lotus” consists of 28 large “lotus petals” and 27 small “lotus petals”, “one large and one small”, which are self-contained units. As the main venue of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, the opening and closing ceremonies were held here.
